Click here to see photos of shed antlers, critters we've hunted, photos of the house, food plots, and the property! The BEST deer hunting farm anywhere? In August
of 2003, while scouting whitetail, I snuck to within 40 yards of a buck
that was feeding in a soybean field. Not working that night, I had no
camera, only my binoculars as the buck raised his head. He was an 11 x
9 and one of the most stunning bucks I've ever seen. On November 8th,
from 6 yards away, I loosed an errant arrow on him. The bottom limb of
my bow caught a limb and caused what turned out to be a miss. Needless
to
say, I was sick to
my stomach on many levels.
The buck, whom we had nicknamed "Mammoth", survived the ordeal. I personally saw him 19 times after that, the only time he was in range was during the gun season and he picked me off before I could even think about getting a shot at him. During
spring turkey scouting, Chris found
BOTH sides of his antlers! Needless to say, she was ecstatic! He was
now an 11x8, having broken off a tine sometime after I had blown the
shot on him. Ironically, Chris had found both of his antlers the
year before when he scored in the 170's and she found one side from the
year before that. These sheds she picked up spring of 2005 though were
huge, scoring just over 200".
The irony, I was hunting very hard for a
buck we nicknamed
"Behemoth". He was one of the most perfect 5 x 5's I'd ever seen, my
estimated score was around 190". He looked like the famous Jordan Buck,
just slightly smaller. He was so impressive that Mammoth wasn't even on
my mind! Behemoth survived, several times getting within range for a
bow shot but never, ever, presenting a shot.![]() These are but two of the many, many monster bucks that have lived on our farm. Unbelievably we are putting the farm up for sale. We've had 8 great years of hunting as owners of this farm and 4 years of hunting (with permission) before that. It's time for us to let it go. I personally think this may be the best deer hunting farm anywhere, I've never photographed or hunted a better piece of property. ![]() As of this writing, I've got 8 soybean food plots planted, two milo. Several clover plots that are in great shape and the CRP ground is full of sweet and red clover. I have not checked the acorn crop to see how that's going to be. We have deer in our yard every night, often times in the afternoon. Our house
is immensely comfortable, about 2000 square feet, very
low maintenance. We have two sheds on the property. One shed has a
hobby/guest room built into it that is air conditioned and heated.
There are three stocked fishing ponds on the property with great
fishing and relaxation. Oh, the turkey hunting is incredible!!!
![]() ![]() Tags for
turkey and deer are abundant. As a landowner you are
eligible for 3, yes I said 3, buck tags!!! And, you can get two spring
turkey tags and two fall turkey tags!!!
This is a sportsman's paradise, fishing,
hunting, relaxing. And
you'll love your neighbors (even though you can't see them from here).
People here are of the friendliest sort.![]() We love this place, we have a hard time believing we are selling. We've always dreamed of living in the mountains and we need to chase that dream before we're too old...... So, if you are interested, it's 240 acres at $549,000.00 with a beautiful home and a park for a yard.
